" EUYSRA is a brilliant community for aspiring scientists and researchers."

The Psychology department meets in David Hume Tower, room LG 08 on Monday at 18:00, just come along or get in touch if you have any questions.

The scientifically curious student will find research opportunities for undergraduates (especially in the first two years) very limited. This is perhaps especially true for Psychology students. This semester, the members of the EUYSRA Psychology department are working on four different projects, ranging from the effects of external factors on creativity and logic, personality traits of students in different degree subjects, what influences people to perceive an article as ‘scientific’, to investigating individual differences in attitudes to sustainability- using actual student energy data (a collaboration with the EUYSRA Engineering Department and the University of Edinburgh Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability).

At our weekly meetings, we have a journal club where members both practice their presentation skills and also increase and share their knowledge of different areas in Psychology. In addition, we invite PhD students to come along and talk about doing research in Psychology, share knowledge they wish they had when they were undergraduates, as well as to present their on-going research. We have members in all stages of their undergraduate degrees and welcome everyone’s input, and encourage any member with a particular skill or interest to share this with the other department members. An example of this is a workshop on methodology in psychological research arranged by a fourth year student.

This department provides a friendly and intellectually stimulating climate which is conducive to brainstorming and learning, as well as the development of practical skills for research in Psychology. New members are always welcome!

"EUYSRA is a student society at its purest: Substantive support for the urge of curiosity born in learning; an unbridled opportunity to do with your own hands that which inspired you in lectures."
