Research

Enabling Undergraduates to carry out their own small scale degree independent research projects is and always will be the main objective of EUYSRA.

Academic Year 2013/2014

We have had 23 research projects proposed from across the seven departments in semester 1.

Academic Year 2012/2013

Check out the 20+ projects presented in our second year of running.

Academic Year 2011/2012

This is the first batch of research projects which were proposed through the society.

The archive of research projects which have been presented to EUYSRA are displayed in the links below:

Members present their research proposal in teams consisting of between 3-6 people (having prepared the projects in one of the seven departments), to the research panel in a formal setting. The team will outline their proposed project, first having completed a satisfactory research proposal report (following the provided template, link below) as well as answered all of the research panels questions well enough, a team will be given full financial and advisory support to complete their projects.

The Research Proposals work in the following way:

After having submitted the written research proposals, each team will then on a pre-determined date and time present their proposal to the research panel (including the President, Head of Research, Treasurer, Chairman, and two academics or post graduates from the respective field being presented).

After a 5-7 minute presentation the teams will be asked questions by the panel.

If the panel is sufficiently satisfied with the proposition of a team, then funding and guidance will be allocated to that team. If the panel is insufficiently satisfied with the proposition of a team, the panel will ask the team to revise some aspects of their proposal before funding will be allocated.

"EUYSRA gave me the introcution and a strong start in scientific research. Such experience helped me to find a full-time job in the science field already after my third year."
