The Main Weekly Meeting

On a weekly basis, during the academic year, the entire society meets to discuss EUYSRA updates, to hear a talk delivered by on of the many academics at the university (presented in layman terms to allow all to appreciate the field), is finished with the EUYSRA trademark debate "Principia Scientifica" at the end of the meeting, after which the members go to the near by bar in Teviot New Amphion for an informal Social (often accompanied by the academic speaker, giving members an excellent opportunity to interact with a professional researcher in a relaxed environment).

Main Meeting Details for the 2015/2016 Academic Year:

Location - 50 George Square, Lecture Theatre G.03, University of Edinburgh

Time - Every Wednesday from 18:30-19:30

I was the Invited Speaker at the inaugural meeting of EUYSRA back in January (2012). Since then I have also served as project referee and scientific advisor. I have got to know the Committee well and their vision for the future.

I am very impressed by what I have witnessed at EUYSRA. The organization is very professional, with a wellprepared and vibrant team of leaders. The membership is very participating, multidisciplinary (with groups from across most Schools of the University), and international.

This is the research forum for students by students. EUYSRA provides a platform for the University of Edinburgh to naturally bridge the gap between its two main missions: teaching and research. It is challenging to introduce the philosophy and experience of research to undergraduate students, and this is exactly what EUYSRA does. And it does it in a multidisciplinary manner. Edinburgh has needed an EUYSRA for decades; why was not created before?

I offer my strongest recommendation for EUYSRA.

Dr. Guillermo Rein
