It is also the department heads responsibility to assist any members of his/her department to prepare any presentation which that member wishes to give to the society. The department head is the one who brings forward the research proposals to the Head of Research who in turn informs the secretary of all research applications.
Personal Details:
I’ve been part of EUYSRA since its creation and for the past two years I’ve been secretary of the Medicine Department. In my first year I ran the department’s first study which looked at the relationship between cortisol levels (an indicator of stress) and student academic performance. I’ve worked on several projects and I’m eager to work on many more with you guys!
Outside of EUYSRA I enjoy dance and I also volunteer at Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital. Now in my last year I imagine most of my time will be taken up with dissertation work, volunteering and society stuff but I hope to keep planning my travels for next year (hopefully, Singapore and Malaysia). This year I did a little of South East Asia which was a wonderfully enriching experience. I also spent two months of summer working for the MRC after being awarded a studentship from Action on Hearing Loss. I looked into auditory perception and learning and have developed many research skills during this period. I hope to pass on my experiences and help with securing summer internships for many of you, throughout the coming year.
