It is the duty of the department head to help individuals or groups to formulate their idea for a research proposition by helping them prepare their presentation to be given to the society, all done within the department meeting which the head will chair and organize. It is also the department heads responsibility to assist any members of his/her department to prepare any presentation which that member wishes to give to the society. The department head is the one who brings forward the research proposals to the Head of Research who in turn informs the secretary of all research applications.
Personal Details:
I joined EUYSRA last year after talking with Nick during our time as interns at the fire lab at Kings Buildings. My time at EUYSRA has given me loads of great opportunities I just wouldn't have got elsewhere. This last year I was the project leader for a group researching the hazards of festival tents in fire. It has been really great getting to develop your own ideas rather than getting told what to do like in your degree. I also had the chance to lead the engineering department to the final of the society’s scientifica principia debates. This was a brilliant chance to improve my confidence in public speaking and I can’t wait for engineering to win next year! I am really looking forward to getting to meet the new members while catching up with the old to hopefully support in some great projects in this next year.
